Kaytea Petro

Artist Statement

Kaytea Petro is a San Francisco native, who studied at art in Italy, China and California as an undergraduate. She has an MBA from Presidio Graduate School. She has been drawing and building things since she can remember. She spent her 20’s touring with Cyclecide, a punk bicycle circus and publishing comic books. Her murals and public art commissions have been displayed throughout San Francisco, her ceramic sculptures are in private collections, and she currently is the owner of Gallery-O-Rama in San Francisco.

Kaytea is a San Francisco native, who studied as an undergraduate at the Florence Academy of Art (Italy), the Sichuan Academy of Arts and Peking University (China) and graduated from UC Santa Cruz, majoring East Asian Studies & Fine Arts. She earned her MBA from Presidio School of Management, with a focus on Sustainability. 

As an entrepreneur, she has focused on sustainability and social equity, co-founding Neighborhood Fruit in 2009, and Aliensun Labs in 2014. Her work has been focused on storytelling, marketing and imagineering more equitable societies.

As an artist, she has been drawing and building things since she can remember. She spent her 20’s touring and performing with Cyclecide, a punk bicycle circus. Her comic book stories have been published in literary magazines, and she’s self-published six graphic novels. Her public art commissions have been displayed at the Aquarium by the Bay, and in Union Square for San Francisco General Hospital Foundation. Her sculptures are in private collections and have exhibited in the US and China, and she currently is faculty at the Crucible as well as owning Gallery-O-Rama gallery in San Francisco.
